On Forgiveness Sunday, the commemoration of the Expulsion of Adam and Eve from Paradise, Saint Michael Orthodox Church in Mount Carmel, PA celebrated Divine Liturgy and Vespers with the Rite of Forgiveness, marked by hymns to commence Great Lent with Repentance. During the week of Clean Week, Great Compline with the Canon of Saint Andrew was held. On Friday, The first Presanctified Liturgy of Lent was served at Saint Michael's, where Fr. Aleksey blessed kolyva in honor of the Greatmartyr, St. Theodore the Recruit.

For 6 weeks St. Michael's is hosting an iconography class during Great Lent, taught by the iconographer Susan Shiposki. Many of their parishoners signed up and are taking part! It's a wonderful time to learn about the process of iconography, and to have fellowship with one another.

On Sunday morning September 24, 2023, the 229th anniversary of the arrival of the Valaam Mission to Kodiak, His Beatitude Metropolitan arrived at the Church for the celebration of the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy for St. Herman of Alaska and the Holy Martyrs Peter the Aleut and Juvenaly the Hieromonk, after vesting in the center of the Church His Beatitude was joined by His Eminence Archbishop Mark and His Grace Bishop Alexis.

On Saturday morning, September 23, 2023, members of the Parish Charity Committee, clergy and church choir of St. Herman of Alaska Orthodox Church (Glen Mills / Gradyville, PA) accompanied the bishops to Nemours/Dupont Children’s Hospital in Wilmington, DE, where a Service of Thanksgiving was held for the health of the children of the hospital in the special hospital chapel.
