The St. Vladimir’s Seminary Octet, an all-male choir specializing in Orthodox Christian liturgical music from various ethnic traditions, will offer a concert of hymns in honor of St. Mary the Virgin, at Holy Trinity Orthodox Church, 1501 Trinity Court, Stroudsburg, on December 8th at 1:00 pm. The concert will feature selections drawn from the great feasts and seasons of the Orthodox Church’s liturgical year, and is free and open to the public.
“The hymns will illustrate the life of the holy Mother of God, as she walked beside her Son, Jesus, through his birth, death, and resurrection,” states Hierodeacon Herman Majkrzak, director of the Octet. “The program will conclude with some favorite Christmas carols, as a foretaste of the upcoming celebration of Christ’s birth.”
The Octet will also be singing the Divine Liturgy at Holy Trinity, where Reverend Nicholas J. Solak is rector, on Sunday, December 8th. Visitors are welcome to attend the service, which begins at 9:30; the church is located at 1501 Trinity Court in Stroudsburg. A flyer for this event can be found HERE.
