Archbishop MARK Visits for Busy Sunday • Edwardsville

St. John the Baptist Welcomes His Eminence, Recognizes Parishioners - 09/24/2017

On Sunday, September 24, the community of St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church in Edwardsville, PA welcomed His Eminence, Archbishop MARK to celebrate Divine Liturgy. His Eminence delivered an inspiring homily, urging the parish to continue the Mission, and be an important part of the greater community - “will the community miss you if you close your doors?” he asked.
Following Divine Liturgy, The Archmandrite Anthony Repella Awards were presented to parishioners in recognition of their service to the parish. Notable wedding Anniversaries were recognized, with no fewer than 3 of over 40 years, including Archpries Michael Evans and Matushka Sonya, who celebrated their 45th Anniversary. Alpha-Omega medals, the Orthodox Religious Award for Scouting, were presented to Ivan and Vladimir Gingo. Following the presentations, the parish gathered outside to bless the newly refurbished fire escape and rectory porch, completed as an Eagle Scout Project by Ivan Gingo. Following the blessing, Ivan presented Parish Council President Kathy Harmanos with $460, the remainder of funds raised for the Eagle Scout Project. The guests then retired to Repella Hall for a meal and Orthodox Fellowship. It is always a special day when Archbishop MARK visits and we thank him and wish him Many Years.
