Each year St. Herman of Alaska Orthodox Church in Gradyville, PA chooses an Advent charity project. This year the Charity Committee expected to support one of our young men who is in the Army stationed in Afghanistan. However this young man asked that instead of sending food and other items to him and his unit that we collect clothes for an orphanage in Kabul. Our church community was extremely generous in donating $1,000 and clothes. Seventeen boxes of clothing for children ages infant to teens were sent to the orphanage. The boxes have arrived and are very much appreciated.
