Anna Martin, 88, of

251 S. Line St., died Monday at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Born in West Mahoney Township, Frackville, January 12, 1920, she was a daughter of the late George and Xenia (Billie) Pribulick and a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

She retired from North Schuylkill Vocational- Technical School, Frackville, PA as a cafeteria worker.

She was an active member of Holy Ascension Orthodox church, as well as the St. Barbara Ladies Auxiliary of Frackville; Anna was also a member of  the Frackville Senior Citizens; and St. Tikhon’s Century Association and the FROC (Federation of Russian Orthodox Club)  attending many of their National Conventions held throughout the United States

She was the oldest living member that was recognized  the earliest baptize child (1920) at the Holy Ascension Orthodox Church at the 90th church anniversary.

Anna’s love and devotion for her family, church, and community were a blessing to all those she loved and served.  Countless people can boast of having an afghan made by her, which she made not only for her family and friends, but for church raffles and other fundraisers.  And there was no one who did not know her at the Blood bank where she so generously gave on a regular basis.  She was a member of the Senior Citizen’s Center and especially for many years attended the Altamont Fire Co. softball games as well as supporting the fire company’s various fundraisers and activities.

Anna’s profound love for her grandchildren included her sharing not only her time and experience but her generosity and sense of fun and adventure.  Her trips to New York City for a fun filled overnight stay and shopping are part of their memories that will last a lifetime.  And sleepovers were a regular and anticipated custom.

And everyone remembers coming to Baba’s for her delicious pork chops or if on a Friday, her pierogies cooked three different ways.  Her door was open to everyone whom she welcomed cheerfully and if you came you would be certain to be asked if you were hungry.  On a Sunday there was always a ham and her potato salad to look forward to.  Her passion for life filled her home with warmth, unconditional love, harmony, music and laughter.

Anna had a deep love for her Orthodox faith and an ongoing concern for St. Tikhon;s Seminary and its students.  She supported not only the seminary but also the students many times sending food and other needed things.  Her faith on God and love for others was and will continue to be an inspiration for all who knew her.
