Blessing of Graves and Feast of Panteleimon • Mount Carmel

St. Michaels Blesses Graves and Celebrates the Feast of St. Panteleimon - 07/25/2020

St. Michael’s Parish had Panikhida Service in both St. Michael’s Cemetery in Mount Carmel, BPA, and St. Peter’s and Paul’s Cemetery in Centralia, PA, on Saturday morning, July 25th. We were able to remember all those who have departed this life before us, our fathers and mothers, brothers and sisters, cousins and other relatives, and to pray for their salvation. After Panikhida Fr. Vjekoslav blessed their graves.

Blessing of the graves is usually done on the Memorial Saturday right before the Holy Pentecost. Since we didn’t have services at that point this year, we had to wait until now.

We are very grateful to all parishioners who were able to come and participate. Thus they fulfilled the words of the Apostle Paul in Hebrews 13, 7. He commanded us to remember our fathers and mothers, who handed to us the most precious thing in this world, which is the Orthodox Faith.

Following Monday, July 27th our Holy Orthodox Church celebrated the Holy Greatmartyr and Healer Panteleimon. Greatmartyr Panteleimon was well known as a healer and wonderworker both during his life and after his martyrdom. He dedicated his life to the suffering, the sick, the unfortunate and the needy. He treated all those who turned to him without charge, healing them in the name of Jesus Christ.

We served a Moleben (Supplicatory) Service to the Healer Panteleimon this evening in our parish, asking for his prayers in this time of uncertainty and universal confusion. We prayed for both spiritual and physical health of our parishioners and all other citizens of this country, and all mankind of the whole world. May we all be protected by the prayers of Saint Panteleimon.

Our parishioners were able to actively participate in the Service reading the Canon of Saint Panteleimon. At the end of Moleben all people were anointed by the holy oil of Wonderworking Icon of Saint Anna, from St. Tikhon’s Monastery.
