Archpriest David Mahaffey Tonsured Riasophor monk - 09/23/2012
On Sunday September 23, 2012, Archpriest David Mahaffey, Rector of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania was tonsured a riasophor monk by His Eminence, Archbishop Tikhon at St Tikhon’s Monastery. Father David has served in a wide variety of capacities in the Diocese of Philadelphia and Eastern Pennsylvania, including Dean of the Philadelphia Deanery and Senior Lecturer at Saint Tikhon’s Seminary. On September 15, 2012, the delegates at the Assembly of the Diocese of Alaska voted to present the name of Archpriest David Mahaffey in nomination to fill the vacant Episcopal See of Sitka and Alaska of the Orthodox Church in America.(7 images)
