Vasili Dubee ordained a Deacon at St. Michael's Church in Jermyn - 11/09/2014

On Sunday, November 9th, 2014, His Grace, Bishop Mark made an Archpastoral visit to St. Michael's Orthodox Church in Jermyn, Pennsylvania. During the hierarchical Divine Liturgy, Bishop Mark ordained Vasili Dubee to the Holy Diaconate. Vasili Dubee, while he was at St. Tikhon's Seminary, received a full scholarship from the parish which participated in the ”Adopt a Seminarian Program.” Rev.Dn. Vasili will be attached to St. Michael's Parish in Jermyn. Also during the Liturgy Bishop Mark
blessed Vladimir Kitchura to be a subdeacon. St. Mary's Altar Society celebrated the "80th Anniversary" of support given to the Church and received a Gramota for the faithful service to the Church. Following the Divine Liturgy, a festive banquet was held at Michael's Center with over 150 people participating. During the Banquet, Susan Schlasta, a member of the Parish announced the 4th year of making a commitment to raise money to help the poor and marginalized children in our area with Christmas Presents. Last year the parish raised over $1,400 in presents for Christmas. The day ended withthe singing of "God Bless America" in honor of Veterans Day on Tuesday, November 11th.
