On June 29, 2023, St. Michael’s Orthodox Church in Mt. Carmel kicked off the Community Garden Project.  Through Father Barnabas Fravel’s connection at Central Susquehanna’s Opportunities, the parish was able to develop a joint gardening project with the non-profit that helps low-income families learn skills to help themselves.  Each week through the summer, educational programs on gardening, nutrition, and food budgeting will be provided.  The community can help maintain the garden and help themselves to the fruits of their labor.  The parish also provided potted vegetable plants that individuals can take home.
