Car blessing in Harrisburg - 07/19/2009
On Sunday, July 19th at the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy, the community at Christ the Saviour Orthodox Church participated in a blessing of their vehicles and "other" modes of transportation in anticipation of the feast of the Great Prophet Elijah and his fiery chariot (Feast Day July 20, see also 2 Kings 2:11). We hope to make this an annual event, in which we might continue to ask Him to travel with us, as He once accompanied Luke and Cleopos and the road to Emmaus.Also present with us at the Divine Liturgy were Fr. Patrick and Popadia Mara Burns, who recently arrived to serve at Holy Annunciation Bulgarian Mecedonian Church in nearby Steelton, PA, as well as, Mother Barbara from Holy Transfiguration Orthodox Monastery in Ellwood City, PA. It was a day of many blessings - Glory to God!
