Matushka Mary Fedoronko (nee Dubnansky) • 1920 - 2013

Matushka Mary Fedoronko (nee Dubnansky), 93, fell asleep in the Lord on Sunday,August 11, 2013.  Beloved and devoted Matushka of the late Archpriest Alexander J. Fedoronko, founding Pastor of St. Stephen Orthodox Catholic Cathedral in Philadelphia, died peacefully at home. She is survived by son, Paul Fedoronko (Diane) of Swarthmore, PA and daughter, Alexandra Vickers of Calabash, NC, 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

The late Father Alexander, born In Coaldale, PA attended high school in Philadelphia and seminary in Serbia returning to the USA at the outbreak of WWII. He then met the lovely Mary in Terryville, CT when his father, the late Archpriest Joseph Fedoronko was serving St. Cyril & Methodius Church there. After Father's Ordination in New York City, Matushka & Father ventured out to the mid-west, first revitalizing a Parish in Hammond, IN and then nurturing and growing the parish of St. Nicholas in Kenosha, WI. In 1955 they were asked to come to St. Michael's Orthodox Church in Philadelphia from whose roots they planted and grew St. Stephen Orthodox Catholic Church consecrated in 1974.  St. Stephen was elevated to Cathedral status by the Synod of Bishops in recognition of Father's, Matushka's and their flock's unwavering support for the then Metropolia, now Orthodox Church in America. The late Father Alexander was named Pastor Emeritus of St. Stephen for his many challenging years at St. Michael & St. Stephen. Matushka was always beside him with unyielding support & fortitude. They lovingly retired in 1978. Father Alexander fell asleep in the Lord in 1993 after which an Orthodox Christian theological education scholarship was established in his honor at St. Stephen, annually benefiting a student at St. Tikhon, St. Vladimir or St. Herman Seminary. Matushka Mary missed him terribly for 20 years, but now is able to join her husband in eternal repose. Memory Eternal!

Visitation will be at St .Stephen Cathedral, 8598 Verree Road, Philadelphia on Friday from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM with a Memorial Service at 7:30 PM and again on Saturday from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM with Funeral Service at 9:30 AM. Int. St. Tikhon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Stephen Cathedral Beautification or to the Father Alexander Memorial Theological Scholarship Fund at St. Stephen.
