On Monday evening, March 18, the first day of Great Lent 2024, the service of the Great Canon of Saint Andrew of Crete was held at Holy Apostles (Mechanicsburg). Mitered Archpriest Nicholas Molodyko Harris, on the eve of his 89th birthday, gave a most inspiring sermon during which he shared from a homily of Saint John Chrysostom on the first day of Lent long ago. Saint John conveyed "the joy true believers have accepting Lent." As we begin the Great Fast, Father Nicholas encouraged us with his words, saying "Great Lent is a prize! It's a time of joy that leads us to the companionship of our Lord." Happy Birthday, Father Nicholas! May God bless you and grant you Many, Many Years!
