St. John the Baptist Wins for Pierogies and Cookies
On Saturday, June 14, 2014, parishioners from St. John the Baptist participated in Edwardsville's First Annual "Pierogi Festival" on Main Street. Over the course of Friday and Saturday, the parishioners had the opportunity to meet and rekindle relationships with neighbors they hadn't seen in decades, share the Orthodox Faith with the community, and be a part of the local community. Their pierogis, which are served by the thousands yearly, can now be called "award winning." Additionally, Welsh Cookies made by parishioner Shirley Gingo were also recognized for their quality. Thanks to the efforts of those few dedicated souls for making this first festival a positive success, reconnecting with the community, and sharing Orthodox fellowship.
