On the first Sunday of Great Lent, March 24, Holy Apostles Orthodox Church celebrated the Triumph of Orthodoxy with a procession of the parish children holding icons to commemorate the final defeat of iconoclasm.
 

On March 24, The Sunday of Orthodoxy, Holy Trinity Orthodox Church in Wilkes-Barre, PA welcomed Holy Resurrection Orthodox Cathedral for the Sunday of Orthodoxy. 

On Forgiveness Sunday, the commemoration of the Expulsion of Adam and Eve from Paradise, Saint Michael Orthodox Church in Mount Carmel, PA celebrated Divine Liturgy and Vespers with the Rite of Forgiveness, marked by hymns to commence Great Lent with Repentance. During the week of Clean Week, Great Compline with the Canon of Saint Andrew was held. On Friday, The first Presanctified Liturgy of Lent was served at Saint Michael's, where Fr. Aleksey blessed kolyva in honor of the Greatmartyr, St. Theodore the Recruit.

For 6 weeks St. Michael's is hosting an iconography class during Great Lent, taught by the iconographer Susan Shiposki. Many of their parishoners signed up and are taking part! It's a wonderful time to learn about the process of iconography, and to have fellowship with one another.

On Saturday, February 17, at Holy Apostles Orthodox Church in Mechanicsburg, PA the newest member of the community, baby Odette Noel Crews, was baptized.

Over the weekend of February 9th to February 11th 2024, the Diocese of Philadelphia and Eastern Pennsylvania organized a Winter Teen Retreat, drawing young Christians from across the diocese. The event was held at Refreshing Mountain Retreat and Adventure Center. His Eminence, Archbishop Mark along with Fr. Vjekoslav Jovičić joined the attendees in experiencing a weekend filled with faith, fellowship, and fun.

On Sunday morning September 24, 2023, the 229th anniversary of the arrival of the Valaam Mission to Kodiak, His Beatitude Metropolitan arrived at the Church for the celebration of the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy for St. Herman of Alaska and the Holy Martyrs Peter the Aleut and Juvenaly the Hieromonk, after vesting in the center of the Church His Beatitude was joined by His Eminence Archbishop Mark and His Grace Bishop Alexis.

On Saturday morning, September 23, 2023, members of the Parish Charity Committee, clergy and church choir of St. Herman of Alaska Orthodox Church (Glen Mills / Gradyville, PA) accompanied the bishops to Nemours/Dupont Children’s Hospital in Wilmington, DE, where a Service of Thanksgiving was held for the health of the children of the hospital in the special hospital chapel.

Peter Holoviak, 63, of Sugarloaf Township, PA,  passed away after a valiant two year battle with cancer at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville on Tuesday, September 20, 2022.

his morning HAOC OGG -- "Orthodox Golden Girls" -- got together to cook up some tasty meals, including chicken chili, Texas-style lasagna, and vegetable strada. These meals will be frozen for future use by parishioners or folks in our community who are in need of a hot, home-cooked meal due to hardship, illness, or whatever the case may be.

The evening of September 14, the Feast of the Exaltation of the Cross, a Panikhida was offered by the Diocese of Eastern Pennsylvania at Holy Resurrection Cathedral for the Ever Memorable Metropolitan Herman who fell asleep in the Lord at the age of 90 on September 6 2022.

(OCA) On September 6, 2022, His Beatitude Metropolitan Herman (Swaiko), retired Primate of the Orthodox Church in America, fell asleep in the Lord at the age of 90.  He had served as Metropolitan of All America and Canada from 2002 until his retirement in 2008.

On Saturday, April 30 over 25 members of our community partnered Hummelstown UCC to work on two homes as part of the Rebuilding Together Harrisburg service day.

On 12-19-21, Fr. Innocent of Holy Trinity Orthodox Church in Wilkes-Barre, led the annual Yolka, with Paula Holoviak instructing the Sunday school students, in a play entitled Holy Night.
