NEW YORK, NY [DOEPA]
On Wednesday, March 12, 2025, with the blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Mark and His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, and at the invitation of Archimandrite Chrysostomos (Gilbert), Cathedral Dean, Archpriest Timothy Hojnicki, Vice-Chancellor of the Diocese of Eastern Pennsylvania, Dean of the Frackville Deanery, and Rector of Holy Apostles Church in Mechanicsburg, PA, delivered a Lenten presentation titled "Lazarus, Come Forth! A Reflection on Death and Resurrection in the Orthodox Tradition" at the Greek Archdiocesan Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in Manhattan, NY.
In the morning, Father Timothy led the weekly Bible study for the faithful at the cathedral, guiding them in reflection.
That evening, Father Timothy prayed in the altar during the Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts. Following the service, Father Timothy continued his Lenten reflections by offering the second of the Lenten Wednesday Talks in the Archdiocesan Cathedral Hall.
In this talk, Father Timothy offered an exploration of the Orthodox Christian view on death and resurrection. Drawing upon personal experiences and connections, he spoke of the Christian understanding of death as a passage, not an end, but a transformation. He touched on the power of Christ's resurrection, which conquers death and offers the hope of eternal life.
On behalf of His Eminence Archbishop Mark, Father Timothy expressed gratitude to Archbishop Elpidophoros, Father Chrysostomos, and the faithful for the invitation and generous hospitality.
Glory to God for all things!
