St. John the Baptist holds Community Memorial Day Service - 05/30/16

On Monday, May 30, 2016, the faithful of St. John the Baptist held a memorial service at the Edwardsville Park in Edwardsville, PA. Honored guests included Mayor of Edwardsville, Ace Dubaskas, Commander Lou Price of the Larksville American Legion, Commander James E. Kaucher, USN, Retired, local police and fire companies, and many members of the community.
Church Council Vice President Joseph Kaucher introduced Mayor Dubaskas and Commander Kaucher, who both spoke about the meaning of Memorial Day. Following remarks, Fr. George Volkovinsky, the choir and special guest singers held a little Litya for those service members who had passed. Following the service, those gathered were invited to Repella Hall for refreshments. This is the second year the parish has held this service, and attendance continues to grow, and goodwill spreads through the community.
