On Tuesday, December 9, the Frackville Deanery hosted an Akathist Service before the Wonderworking Icon "She Who is Quick to Hear."  The Orthodox Monastery of St Tikhon of Zadonsk in South Canaan received this icon at its founding in 1905 as a gift from the Monastery of Saint Panteleimon on Mount Athos. It has been guarded and venerated since then at St Tikhon's Monastery and will be taken on occasion to visit local parishes.
 
The Akathist to the Mother of God "Healer of Cancer" was served at St Peter and St Paul Orthodox Church in Minersville by His Grace, Bishop Tikhon, together with Fr. Michael Hatrak, the Dean of the Frackville Deanery and pastor of the parish, and other local clergy. His Grace offered some words at the conclusion of the service and all those present were anointed with blessed oil.
