Part of the preparation for the great Feastday of Pentecost was remembering departed members of our community. We served Vespers and Panikhida for the departed on Friday evening, Jun 02, and Divine Liturgy and Panikhida on Saturday morning, Jun 03. Parishioners were able to submit names of the departed family members, or friends, which were then commemorated by Fr. Vjekoslav during those services.
Orthodox Cemeteries in our area were blessed following Liturgy on Saturday. Fr. Vjekoslav, together with parishioners, first visited Holy Ascension Orthodox Cemetery in Frackville, where Panikhida was served and graves were blessed. Then we did Panikhida and graves were blessed in Holy Ghost Russian Orthodox Cemetery in Shenandoah. Finally, in the late afternoon, we had Panikhida and graves’ blessing in Holy Trinity Orthodox Cemetery in McAdoo.
It turned out to be a whole day event. We are very grateful for all people that participated in it, and offered their prayers on behalf of the departed ones, whom we hope to receive and meet again in resurrection.
