On Sunday Afternoon, September 28, 2014, St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church in Edwardsville gathered and welcomed visitors to listen to a presentation called “Ukrainian Immigration to the Coal Region,” by Paula Holoviak, as part of the Pennsylvania Humanities Council. After the presentation, those gathered were treated with a performance by Kazka - a Ukrainian folk ensemble - with songs and dancing typical of the early immigrants. The event was arranged by the St. John’s Activities Committee, and is the first of many fall and winter events planned.
