Fr. Michael Evans Honored at Retirement Dinner • Mt. Carmel

Saint Michael's Orthodox Church wishes Fr. Michael well - 10/13/2013

Father Michael Evans of St. Michael's Orthodox Church in Mt. Carmel was honored at a retirement dinner on October 13, 2013. His Grace, Bishop MARK was among the many guests who attended to wish him and his wife, Matushka Sonya well.

Father Michael and Matushka Sonya Evans were married September 17, 1972. . They have one son, Michael, III.. While the parish remembers Michael as a teenager, he is now a fine young man with a beautiful wife, Jen, and two adorable children, Mya Natalia and Owen Michael.

Father Michael graduated from St. Tikhon's Seminary in 1972. He was ordained to the Holy Priesthood on October 22, 1972, by Archbishop Kiprian, He continued his education, receiving an M.S. in Religious Education  in 1982.

Father Michael became the rector of Saint Michael's in Mount Carmel in 1989. Prior to his arrival, he served as an Orthodox priest at St .Vladimir's Church in Lopez (1972-1978), Saint Basil the Great in Simpson (1978-1984), and Saint Mary's Church in Saint Clair (1984-1989).  In addition to serving at Saint Michael's in Mount Carmel, Father Michael has also been serving at Holy Ascension Orthodox Church in Lykens since 1999.

 Father Michael and Matushka Sonya will be moving to Edwardsville, PA.
