January 30 – February 4
At the last Holy Synod Meeting in Mexico City, His Grace Bishop Tikhon
was appointed Secretary of the Holy Synod. In that capacity, and
together with His Grace, Bishop BENJAMIN of the Diocese of the West,
he will be representing His Beatitude, Metropolitan JONAH and The
Orthodox Church in America at the enthronement of the new
Patriarch-elect of Moscow, His Eminence, Archbishop Kirill of Smolensk
and Kalinigrad. Archpriest Leonid Kishkovsky, from the Department of
External Affairs will also be a part of the delegation. Please watch

February 5
A Diocesan Council meeting will be held on Thursday, February 5 at the
Diocesan Center. Please contact your deanery or an at-large
representative with any questions or concerns you may have about the
life of the Diocese.
Feb. 6-8
The 2009 Winter Teen Retreat will be held in Cresco. More information

Feb. 8
On Sunday, February 8, His Grace will celebrate the Divine Liturgy at
All Saints Church in Olyphant at which time a special service for the
blessing of Missionary Christina Semon will be celebrated.
Concelebrating with His Grace will be Father David Cowan, the Rector
of the parish and Father David Rucker, the Associate Director of the
Orthodox Christian Mission Center (OCMC).
Feb. 9-15
At the invitation of His Grace, Bishop Joseph of the Antiochian
Archdiocese, His Grace Bishop Tikhon will be leading a clergy retreat
for the Diocese of the West of the Antiochian Archdiocese. The retreat
will take place in Los Angeles, CA. His Grace will be speaking on the
topic of "The Ascetical Struggle and Liturgical Prayer as Doors to
Divine Life."
Feb 17
Clergy Retreat for the Diocese of Eastern Pennsylvania.
Feb. 24-27
His Grace, Bishop Tikhon, together with all the members of the Holy
Synod of Bishops, will be pariticipating in a retreat in Colorado
Springs, Colorado on these days. The purpose of the retreat is to
offer the hierarchs an opportunity to pray together and work on the
process of the Strategic Plan for The Orthodox Church in America as
proposed at the last All American Council in Pittsburgh.
