Philadelphia Deanery visits Agia Sophia Coffeehouse
Agia Sophia Coffeehouse Visit
On Monday, July 2nd clergy from the Philadelphia Deanery visited Agia Sophia Coffeehouse and Bookstore in Harrisburg, PA (visit their website HERE). Fr. David Mahaffey (Dean) organized the visit as a token of support for this unique Pan-Orthodox outreach in our states capitol. The deanery also presented a check for $300.00 offering material support for the shops on-going expenses.

Agia Sophia has been operating since September 2011, under the auspices of the Orthodox Christian Charities of Greater Harrisburg Inc (OCCGH), an IRS approved non-profit organization. The shop offers customers high quality espresso, coffee, specialty drink, and tea products - in an environment steeped in the beauty of Orthodoxy. As part of its non-profit mission, Agia Sophia donates all profits to local charities. Despite the difficulties of being a "start-up" - the shop employees and volunteers have designated all tips to be given to a charity monthly. Since January 2012, the shop has donated over $800 to local charities through these designated funds.

Please continue to keep the project in your prayers, stop in for a visit, and encourage family and friends who live, work and visit Harrisburg to "come and see". Donations in support of our mission are also greatly appreciated!
