On June 24th, His Eminence, Archbishop Tikhon, celebrated the Feast of the Nativity of the Holy Glorious Prophet, Forerunner and Baptist John by serving a Divine Liturgy at Saint John the Baptist Orthodox Church in Nanticoke, PA. After the service, His Eminence together with the rector of the parish, Fr. Adam Sexton, and the faithful went to the rectory to bless the beginning of the reconstruction project.
A tragic fire destroyed a large part of the rectory of Saint John the Baptist parish during the celebration of the Divine Liturgy on Sunday, March 4th, 2012, leaving Fr. Adam Sexton, his wife, and their eight children without a home. Fortunately, there were no injuries to any of the family members.
After a Prayer of Thanksgiving, His Eminence blessed the building with the Holy Water, beginning a new chapter in the life of the Sexton family. In addition, Archbishop Tikhon presented a check for over thirty thousand dollars to the Parish. The money was contributed by various churches, organizations, and people throughout the United States to help financially the Sextons.
Then, His Eminence met with the faithful during a coffee hour.
