Holy Apostles Gathers for Canon of St. Andrew on Second Day of Lent - 03/19/24
On the second day of Lent (3/19), we continued evening services of the Great Canon of Saint Andrew of Crete. We were blessed to have Mitered Archpriest Dan and Matushka Myra Kovalak with us. In his sermon, Father Dan regaled us with the fascinating background of this 7th-century Canon composed by the Archbishop of Crete, which is said to be a dialogue between him and his soul. As Father Dan explained, this solemn work, which contains many biblical examples of sin and repentance, is referred to as the "Great" Canon "because of how it speaks to us so 'greatly' about God's love for us even while we are sinners." Many thanks to Father Dan for sharing his wise insights. May God Grant him and Matushka Myra many years!
