Scouts honored on Scout Sunday at St. John the Baptist - 02/05/23

Scout Sunday is designated by the Boy Scouts of America as the Sunday that falls before February 8 every year. On February 5, the community of St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church honored Life Scout Maxim Gingo on the occasion of earning his Alpha Omega Orthodox Religious Award. Maxim spent time with 3 different clergy members learning and completing requirements for this award. He recently completed his Eagle Scout project and hopes to attain the rank of Eagle Scout in the next month. Maxim is a member of Troop 281 in Dallas, PA.
On the same day, Maxim’s father, Aric, was honored by Troop 281 with the presentation of the Prophet Elias Award, the Adult Religious award in Scouting. Aric asked that the award be presented during Scout Sunday at his home parish.

Fr. David Hester presented the awards and discussed the importance and impact of them with the parishioners.
