St. John the Baptist Celebrates Feast with Blessing of Water - 01/05/21
On Tuesday, January 5, and Wednesday January 6, the community of St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church celebrated the Great Feast of Theophany.
The celebration of the Feast began on Tuesday morning with the Royal Hours in the morning and compline was celebrated later that evening. On Wednesday morning the community gathered for Divine Liturgy and the Great Blessing of the waters. Father Silouan reminded all of the importance of this feast as it marked the beginning of Christ’s public ministry and the importance and symbolism of baptism in our lives as Orthodox Christians. At the end of Liturgy, Father Silouan blessed the waters and then the entire Church - top to bottom - with the newly blessed water. Parishioners drank and collected Holy Water water during dismissal.
