Wilkes-Barre Deanery Honors Fr. David Shewczyk - 01/31/18
On Wednesday, January 31, a luncheon was hosted by the Wilkes Barre Deanery to honor the Very Reverend Fr. David Shewczyk for his years of service to Holy Trinity Orthodox Church, Wilkes Barre, the Diocese of Philadelphia and Eastern Pennsylvania, and Saint Tikhon's Theological Seminary. His classmates from Seminary, the Very Reverend Fr. John Kowalczyk and the Very Reverend Fr. Daniel Kovalak shared memories of their 5 years at Saint Tikhon's as well as the passing years. Words were also offered by Protodeacon Sergei Kapral; the Very Reverend Fr. Martin Browne, Chancellor; and the Very Reverend Fr. Nicholas Solak, Dean. Father David was presented a Diocesan Gramota for his and Matushka Sharon’s service and sacrifice by Archbishop Mark. Father David will be officially retired as of February 5th and will be moving to South Carolina with Matushka Sharon. Father David and Matushka Sharon will be missed by the Seminary, the Diocese and Holy Trinity, where he has faithfully served.
