Concert and Open House Held at All Saints Church

Hymns Dedicated to Mother of God Sung in Olyphant, PA - 09/05/2024

BATH, PA [DOEPA COMMUNICATIONS]

On Thursday, September 5, All Saints Orthodox Church in Olyphant, PA, hosted a concert and open house for the public titled "Blessed Among Women: A Selection of Hymns to the Virgin Mary."

An ensemble composed of members of the All Saints parish choir and members of the St. Tikhon's Theological Seminary and Monastery community performed under the direction of Priest Mikel Hill. The ensemble was also joined by Priest John Black, Rector of St. Michael's Orthodox Church in Jermyn, PA.

The program featured hymns related to the birth, life, and falling asleep of the Theotokos, as sung in the parish throughout the liturgical year. Fr. Paul introduced the selections and spoke on the significance of the Mother of God in Salvation History and the life of the Church.

Members of the local community and the wider valley were invited to this outreach event, which showcased the richness of Orthodox Christian faith and tradition through its musical heritage.

Following the concert, a light meal and reception were held in the church hall, where community and fellowship continued into the late evening.

All Saints Church is especially grateful to the Elsie Skvir Ganister Foundation for sponsoring the event and to Reader Thomas Coon for planning and coordinating it as part of his summer internship with the parish.
