BATH, PA [DOEPA COMMUNICATIONS]
On behalf of the Youth Ministries Department of the Diocese of Philadelphia and Eastern Pennsylvania, the Diocesan Media Office announces that counselor applications for the upcoming St. Tikhon’s Summer Camp season remain open.
St. Tikhon’s Summer Camp, held on the grounds of St. Tikhon’s Monastery in South Canaan, PA, gathers Orthodox Christian youth from across the Diocese for a week of prayer, fellowship, and outdoor activities. Counselors play a central role in the life of the camp, serving as mentors and leaders for campers throughout the week. They lead and participate in activities and games, assist with daily prayers and services, and help foster an environment where campers can grow in their faith while building lasting friendships.
The Youth Ministries Department is also in need of additional counselors for the upcoming season, including recent high school graduates who would like to serve as Counselors-in-Training (CITs). Young adults who desire to serve the youth of the Diocese and participate in this ministry are encouraged to apply.
Serving as a counselor offers young adults a meaningful opportunity to develop leadership skills, deepen their spiritual life, and contribute to the formation of the Diocese’s youth within a joyful and supportive Orthodox Christian community. Counselors work closely with clergy and camp staff to ensure that each camper experiences a safe, enriching, and memorable week at camp.
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and are expected to be present for the full duration of the program. As part of the application process, prospective counselors must submit the counselor application form along with three references, including a clergy reference, a personal reference, and a professional or workplace reference. Selected applicants will also be required to complete background checks and child protection clearances in accordance with diocesan and Orthodox Church in America youth protection guidelines.
Those interested in serving as counselors are encouraged to submit an application by visiting: youth.doepa.org/counselor-application
