WILLIAMSPORT, PA [DOEPA]
On Sunday, March 1, 2026, the faithful of Elevation of the Holy Cross Church in Williamsport, PA, celebrated the Sunday of the Triumph of Orthodoxy, the First Sunday of Great Lent.
The Divine Liturgy was celebrated by Archpriest Seraphim Reynolds, Rector, who offered a sermon reflecting on the profound importance of holy icons in the life of the Church and in the daily prayer of Orthodox Christians.
Following the Divine Liturgy, a procession with icons was held outside the temple, bearing witness to the restoration of the holy images and the victory of the Orthodox faith. Upon returning to the church, the faithful prayerfully proclaimed the Synodikon of Orthodoxy, affirming the apostolic faith handed down through the generations. A Lenten fellowship hour was held afterward, offering the parish community an opportunity to gather in joy and mutual encouragement as the sacred season of Great Lent continues.
