OLD FORGE, PA [DOEPA]
From March 23-24, 2024, St. Michael's Church in Old Forge, PA, celebrated the Sunday of Cross.
Prior to Great Vespers, Priest Michael Shepherd, Rector, discussed several scripture verses that mentioned the cross, including Luke 9:23, Matthew 16:24, Galatians 2:20, and 1 Corinthians 1:18, emphasizing the importance of carrying one's cross and the significance of Christ's sacrifice on the cross.
Afterward, the youth decorated the cross for the third Sunday of Great Lent.
Great Vespers was served and the Venerable and Life-Giving Cross of the Lord was brought out in procession. It was venerated after the clergy and faithful sang "Before Thy Cross..."
