On behalf of His Eminence Archbishop Mark, the Clergy, Matushki, and Faithful of the Diocese of Philadelphia and Eastern Pennsylvania, the Diocesan Media Office extends its warmest congratulations to Archpriest Leonid Schmidt, Rector of St. John the Theologian Mission in Gettysburg, PA, on the occasion of his 15th anniversary of ordination to the Holy Priesthood.
Father Leonid was ordained to the Holy Priesthood on Saturday, August 13, 2011, the Leavetaking of the Transfiguration of our Lord and the commemoration of Saint Tikhon, Bishop of Voronezh, Wonderworker of Zadonsk and All Russia, through the laying on of hands of His Eminence Archbishop Michael of New York and New Jersey at Assumption of the Holy Virgin Church in Philadelphia, PA. Following his graduation from St. Tikhon’s Theological Seminary, he served as Archbishop Michael’s personal aide (kelenik) and driver before being assigned to Ss. Peter and Paul Church in Syracuse, NY, where he ministered as assistant priest and later as Rector of Christ the Saviour Church in Paramus, NJ, in the Diocese of New York and New Jersey.
Throughout the years of his priestly ministry, Father Leonid has faithfully served the Church through his pastoral care and dedication to the faithful entrusted to him. Now serving as Rector of St. John the Theologian Mission he continues his ministry within the Diocese of Philadelphia and Eastern Pennsylvania, guiding the mission community in its life of worship, fellowship, and service to Christ.
We, as a Diocese, pray that God will grant Archpriest Leonid, Matushka Laura, and their family many years. Axios!
