On Thursday, August 6, 2026, the parishes of the Diocese of Philadelphia and Eastern Pennsylvania celebrated the Great Feast of the Holy Transfiguration of Our Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ, gathering in worship and prayer to commemorate the revelation of Christ’s divine glory upon Mount Tabor. Throughout the Diocese, clergy and faithful participated in the Divine Liturgy and the traditional blessing of grapes and other fruits, rejoicing in the uncreated light of Christ’s Kingdom.
On behalf of His Eminence Archbishop Mark, the Diocesan Media Office extends heartfelt festal greetings to the clergy, matushki, and faithful of the Diocese on the Great Feast of the Holy Transfiguration, prayerfully wishing all a joyous and blessed celebration. His Eminence sincerely thanks all who submitted photos for this edition of “Feastday in Focus,” which beautifully highlights the vibrant liturgical life of our parishes.
Troparion:
Thou wast transfigured on the mountain, O Christ God, revealing Thy glory to Thy disciples as far as they could bear it. Let Thine everlasting Light also shine upon us sinners, through the prayers of the Theotokos. O Giver of Light, glory to Thee!
Kontakion:
On the mountain Thou wast transfigured, O Christ God, and Thy disciples beheld Thy glory as far as they could see it, so that when they would behold Thee crucified, they would understand that Thy suffering was voluntary and would proclaim to the world that Thou art truly the Radiance of the Father!
Magnification:
We magnify, We magnify Thee, O Christ, the Giver of Life, and we venerate the all-glorious Transfiguration of Thy most pure Body!
