HARRISBURG, PA [DOEPA]

On Wednesday, June 24, 2026, the Feast of the Nativity of the Holy Glorious Prophet, Forerunner, and Baptist, John, Christ the Saviour Church in Harrisburg, PA, welcomed the faithful of its sister parish, Holy Apostles Church in Mechanicsburg, PA, for the celebration of the Divine Liturgy.

The Divine Liturgy was celebrated by Archpriest Stephen Vernak, Rector of Christ the Saviour Church, with Archpriest Timothy Hojnicki, Diocesan Vice-Chancellor, Dean of the Frackville Deanery, and Rector of Holy Apostles Church, concelebrating. Also serving were Deacon John Shingara and Deacon Herman Combs, Seminarian Intern from St. Tikhon's Theological Seminary, together with parish and visiting altar servers.

The homily was offered by Father Timothy Hojnicki.

During the Divine Liturgy, the faithful from both parishes joined together in prayer and partook of the Holy Mysteries. The annual gathering on the Feast of the Nativity of Saint John the Baptist continues the tradition of fellowship shared between the neighboring East and West Shore communities, strengthening the bonds of faith and brotherly love that unite the two sister parishes.

Following the veneration of the Cross, clergy and faithful gathered in the parish hall for a festive luncheon, providing an opportunity for fellowship and continued celebration of the feast.
