MECHANICSBURG, PA [DOEPA]
On Sunday, May 10, 2026, the Fifth Sunday of Holy Pascha, the Sunday of the Samaritan Woman, the faithful of Holy Apostles Church in Mechanicsburg, PA, gathered as the parish cemetery was blessed following the Divine Liturgy, and mothers, grandmothers, godmothers, and spiritual mothers were honored with a special luncheon.
Following the Divine Liturgy, Archpriest Timothy Hojnicki, Vice-Chancellor of the Diocese of Eastern Pennsylvania, Dean of the Frackville Deanery, and Rector of Holy Apostles Church, together with the faithful, processed to the parish cemetery where prayers were offered for all those buried there, asking the Lord to grant rest to His servants and preserve their memory eternal. The blessing served as a reminder of the joy and hope of the Paschal season and the victory of Christ over death through His glorious Resurrection.
In addition to the cemetery blessing, the parish community also took time to honor all mothers, grandmothers, godmothers, and spiritual mothers on the occasion of Mother’s Day. Following the services, a special luncheon was held in the parish hall in gratitude for the love, sacrifice, guidance, and faithful witness offered by the women who continue to nurture and strengthen both their families and the life of the Church.
The faithful enjoyed a joyful afternoon of fellowship as they gathered together during this radiant Paschal season to express appreciation and love for the many mothers and spiritual mothers within the parish community.
