WILMINGTON, DE [DOEPA]
On Wednesday, April 15, 2026, Bright Wednesday, Stephanie Hojnicki, a longtime parishioner of St. Michael the Archangel Church in Wilmington, DE, and the beloved grandmother of Archpriest Timothy Hojnicki, reposed in the Lord.
She was the beloved matriarch of the family, faithful member of St. Michael’s Orthodox Church, a life member of the Minquadale Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. Stephanie is survived by her son Leon Hojnicki (wife Georgia), daughter Christine Roberts (husband David), daughter-in law Karen Hojnicki, her 8 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 51 years, and the love of her life, Edward Hojnicki Sr., her son Edward Hojnicki Jr., and her sisters Pauline, Dorothy, Irene, Alice, and Helen. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Kentmere Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center for the care given to her during her stay.
The Orthodox Christian funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, April 22, at St. Michael’s Orthodox Church, Kirkwood Hwy. (at the corner of West Huntington Dr.), Wilmington, DE, with her grandson, Archpriest Timothy Hojnicki, presiding. A viewing will be held at the church from 9:30 am – 11:00 am preceding the funeral. Interment will take place privately.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to St. Michael the Archangel Orthodox Church in her memory. The family asks for prayers for the repose of her soul, and that the Lord would keep her memory eternally in His Kingdom! Vechnya Pamyat!
