OLYPHANT, PA [DOEPA]
On Sunday, March 1, 2026, the faithful of All Saints Church in Olyphant, PA, celebrated the First Sunday of Great Lent, the Sunday of the Triumph of Holy Orthodoxy, with prayerful solemnity and spiritual joy.
The Divine Liturgy was celebrated by Priest Paul Witek, Rector of All Saints Church, and Academic Dean at St. Tikhon's Theological Seminary, with seminarians, Priest Pedro Sarsamă and Priest Seraphim Crossman concelebrating. The choir was beautifully led under the direction of Reader David Brzuchalski.
At the beginning of the Divine Liturgy, the faithful took part in a procession with holy icons, bearing witness to the Orthodox confession of the Incarnation and the restoration of the sacred images. With icons raised in reverence, the community proclaimed the Symbol of Faith and the Proclamation of the Synodikon of Orthodoxy, affirming the apostolic faith handed down through the generations and giving thanks for the victory of holy Orthodoxy.
The Sunday of the Triumph of Orthodoxy commemorates the restoration of the veneration of icons in the year 843, marking the end of the iconoclastic controversy and the reaffirmation that the Word truly became flesh. Through this sacred observance, the Church confesses that Christ’s Incarnation sanctifies the material world and that the holy icons proclaim this saving truth.
