WRIGHTSTOWN, PA [DOEPA]
From February 23 through March 1, 2026, St. Mark’s Church in Wrightstown, PA, prayerfully entered Great Lent with the services of the First Week, culminating in the celebration of the Sunday of Orthodoxy.
From Monday through Thursday evening, the faithful gathered for the Great Canon of Saint Andrew of Crete, offered in a spirit of repentance and spiritual renewal. Through the penitential hymns and prostrations of the Canon, parishioners were called to deeper reflection, humility, and renewed dedication to the spiritual struggle of Great Lent. Archpriest Raymond Browne, Chancellor of the Diocese of Eastern Pennsylvania and Rector of St. Mark’s Church, led the parish community in all of the solemn services during the week marking the beginning of the Lenten season.
On Friday evening, the parish celebrated the first Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts of the lenten season, receiving the Holy Mysteries.
On Sunday, the community celebrated the Triumph of Orthodoxy. At the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy, prayers were offered in thanksgiving for the restoration of the holy icons and the preservation of the Orthodox Faith. The faithful joined in proclaiming the victory of true doctrine and the enduring witness of the Church. The services of the First Week established a prayerful foundation for the Lenten season at St. Mark's, strengthening the faithful as they continue their journey toward the Resurrection of Christ, Great and Holy Pascha.
