On behalf of His Eminence Archbishop Mark, the Clergy, Matushki and Faithful of the Diocese of Philadelphia and Eastern Pennsylvania, the Diocesan Media Office extends its warmest congratulations to Priest John Black, Rector of St. Herman of Alaska Church in Shillington, PA, on the occasion of his 3rd anniversary of ordination to the Holy Priesthood.
Father John was ordained to the Holy Priesthood on Sunday, January 22, 2023, the Apostle Timothy of the Seventy, by the laying on of hands of His Eminence Archbishop Mark at St. Vladimir's Theological Seminary in Yonkers, NY. Following his ordination, Father John was assigned as Rector of St. Michael's Church in Jermyn, PA, and in June 2025, Rector of St. Herman's Church.
In his words and actions, he continues to bear witness to the Gospel and to the responsibility entrusted to him as a priest of the Church, faithfully shepherding the flock placed in his care.
We pray that God will grant Priest John, Matushka Alexandra, and their family many years. Axios!
