BETHLEHEM, PA [DOEPA]
On Sunday, August 17, 2025, the Afterfeast of the Dormition of the Mother of God, His Eminence Archbishop Mark of Philadelphia and Eastern Pennsylvania visited St. Nicholas Church in Bethlehem, PA, for the celebration of the Divine Liturgy.
Upon arrival, His Eminence was greeted by Archpriest Nikolai Breckenridge, Rector. Archbishop Mark presided over the Divine Liturgy, with Father Nikolai concelebrating and Deacon Geoffrey LoBalbo serving. The choir sang under the direction of Reader Nicholas Lezinsky.
Prior to the Divine Liturgy, John Heitzenrater was tonsured a Reader. May God grant him many years!
His Eminence offered the homily, speaking primarily about the suffering endured by the Apostles for the sake of Christ and reminding the faithful that, after Baptism, we are called to put aside our old life.
Many of the faithful received the Holy Eucharist.
At the conclusion of the Liturgy, Archbishop Mark offered an archpastoral word and some words of encouragement to the parish and to all those gathered.
Following the veneration of the Cross, a meal was served in the church hall, providing a time for fellowship and further conversation with His Eminence.
