SPRINGFIELD, VA [OCA]

The Sunday on or following the commemoration of St. Romanus the Melodist (October 1) has been designated by Holy Synod of Bishops of the Orthodox Church in America as a date to honor the essential role of liturgical music in the life of the Orthodox Church. This year, “Church Musician Sunday” will fall next Sunday on October 6, 2024.

Parishes are asked to publicly recognize in announcements and bulletins those in their communities who serve in musical ministries: choir directors, singers, chanters, readers, composers, arrangers, bell-ringers, hymnologists, translators, and hymnographers.

Graphics are available for download that are suitable for printing and posting online. Parishes are encouraged to use them in their local publications and online.
