Archbishop Mark makes Archpastoral Visit to All Saints Church, Olyphant, PA, on the Sunday of Orthodoxy

OLYPHANT, PA [DOEPA]

From March 8-9, 2025, the Triumph of Orthodoxy, His Eminence Archbishop Mark made an archpastoral visit to All Saints Church in Olyphant, PA, presiding over the services and spending time with the faithful.

On Saturday, March 8, upon arrival to the temple, His Eminence was greeted by Priest Paul Witek, Rector, and several members of the parish. Great Vespers was served by Father Paul, and Archbishop Mark presided from the throne.

Following the service, His Eminence expressed gratitude for the warm and heartfelt welcome extended to him by the faithful of the parish. Father Paul thanked His Eminence for his presence and leadership as the true "rector of the parish". Father Paul offered a brief homily on the meaning and significance of the Triumph of Orthodoxy, emphasizing the victory of the true faith over heresy.

On Sunday, March 9, the faithful of St. Nicholas Church in Olyphant, PA, joined the faithful of All Saints Church to celebrate the Divine Liturgy. His Eminence Archbishop Mark celebrated the Divine Liturgy. Serving with His Eminence were Father Paul Witek and Father Nathan Clausson, Rector of St. Nicholas Church. Deacon Paisios Daniels and altar servers from both parishes also served. The combined choir was led under the direction of Reader David Brzuchalski.

Prior to the Divine Liturgy, the youth from both parishes processed into the church, carrying holy icons. The faithful recited the Nicene Creed in unison, affirming their faith. Following this, Father Paul proclaimed the Synodikon of Orthodoxy, honoring the holy tradition and declaring the triumph of the Orthodox Church over heresies.

At the Little Entrance, His Eminence Archbishop Mark awarded Father Paul the right to wear the kamilavka in recognition of his dedicated service. Axios!

In his homily, His Eminence spoke on the essence of being "Orthodox" and the importance of loving and praying for our enemies. He reminded the faithful that even those who may despise or persecute us are, in truth, created in the image of Christ and worthy of our prayers and compassion.

At the Divine Liturgy, many of the faithful received Christ’s Holy Mysteries.

After the dismissal, His Eminence offered words of encouragement to Father Paul, the faithful of All Saints, and the entire community of St. Nicholas, commending them for their good works and urging them to continue strengthening the bond between the sister parishes. Father Paul, on behalf of the parish, expressed his deep gratitude to His Eminence for his archpastoral visit, highlighting the parish’s joy and honor in having him present for the Sunday of Orthodoxy.

Following the service, a Lenten meal was prepared and served in the church hall, where the faithful gathered for a time of fellowship. This provided an opportunity for parishioners to spend time with His Eminence and strengthen the bonds of community.
