PAOLI, PA [DOEPA]
From November 12-13, 2024, the clergy of the Diocese of Philadelphia and Eastern Pennsylvania gathered for the annual Pre-Advent Clergy Retreat at Daylesford Abbey in Paoli, PA, with the blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Mark and was led by His Grace Bishop Benedict of Hartford and New England. Due to the untimely death of his sister, Mona, His Eminence was unable to attend.
His Grace Bishop Benedict gave a thoughtful presentation on the Rule of St. Benedict, focusing on its practical application in parish ministry. Bishop Benedict explored how the principles of the Rule can enhance pastoral care, promote a spirit of hospitality, and foster a stronger sense of community within parishes. He emphasized how the Rule's focus on balance, stability, and prayer can guide clergy and lay leaders in their daily work, helping them build deeper, more meaningful spiritual relationships with one another.
Throughout the retreat, clergy participated in daily services and enjoyed fellowship over shared meals. The retreat provided a valuable opportunity for reflection, prayer, and mutual support among the clergy, as they took time away from their parishes to renew their commitment to the spiritual and pastoral care of their communities.
Glory to God for all things!
