Icon of St. Anna, Service of Supplication to the Mother of God • St. Stephen’s Cathedral, Philadelphia

The Orthodox Clergy Brotherhood of Philadelphia area is making their contribution to the celebration of the World Meeting of Families Event that is coming up in September and will be marked by a visit of Pope Francis to our city.  After discussion with the Catholic Archdiocese, the Orthodox Christian Clergy decided to hold, during the month of August, a number of services of Supplication to the Mother of God throughout greater Philadelphia area. One of these services will take place at St. Stephen’s Cathedral on August 16 at 4 PM.  We will be praying that the Lord, through the prayers of the Virgin Mary and all the saints, strengthen the commitment of Christians of our area to traditional family values.

In addition, at this service we will have the presence of Miracle-working icon of St. Anna, the Mother of the Virgin Mary.  This particular icon was written in Jerusalem and for many years streamed myrrh and many people received healing and help praying to St. Anna in front of the icon.
