Holy Trinity's 80th Anniversary
The faithful of Holy Trinity, Pottstown, PA, celebrated the parish's 80th anniversary on June 22 with an hierarchical DIvine Liturgy followed by a banquet at Lakeside Inn in nearby Limerick.  His Grace, Bishop TIKHON, was the main celebrant at Divine Liturgy.  The parish Rector, Archpriest S. David Mahaffey, Jr., and Protodeacon Peter Skoog con-celebrated with former pastors Archpriest Nicholas Yuschak and Archpriest Michael Slovesko.  Reader Jon Black led the choir in singing responses.  Matushka Karen Mahaffey who fell asleep in the Lord last August was remembered during the service.
 
Parishioners old and young gathered with family and friends for a relaxing afternoon at the banquet with an Hawaiian theme.  Archpriest Theodore Heckman, a former Rector, was able to join the afternoon festivities, as were some former parishioners.  PA State Representative Thomas Quigley attended both the Divine Liturgy and banquet and offered congratulatory remarks.  Bishop TIKHON, Archpriest Mahaffey, and Council President Rebecca Hutnyan offered greetings to those gathered.  Paul Boris, Council Vice President, served as toastmaster.  Charles Staso was chair for the 80th anniversary event.
 
Akathist to the Mother of God, Healer of Cancer
On Friday evening, August 15, Archpriest S, David Mahaffey, Jr. served an Akathist to the Theotokos Queen of Heaven, Healer of Cancer, for all those families affected by cancer.  Responses were led by Reader Jon Black.  The Akathist concluded with Anointing with oil from the Miraculous Myrrh-streaming Icon of St. Anna.  The Akathist was advertised and open to the public.
